AVAILABILITY

28 May 2013

We see a bright future for the use of our truly wonderful Gulf Coast and southern native plants. They are used to our heat and humidity and provide food and shelter for our bugs, butterflies, reptiles, birds and mammals. We are having better success growing using lower nitrogen rates. We are always a challenge to Albert (our state bug inspector) because we always have "good" bugs and use as little pesticide and herbicide as possible. Euonymus americana is a favorite wild turkey food. Many of our plants provide food for migrating birds and butterflies which are under increasing stress from habitat loss and overuse of grass and mono-cultural landscaping practices. Diversity is key and really is a more fun way to garden.
